Malka and Yossi had a wonderful Orthodox Jewish wedding day and night, as you’ll see!

When I met Malka she emphasized how important photography was to her which is always a plus for me.
I’m so glad my couples value good photography.

One thing Malka really wanted was some photos AFTER the reception downtown at Playhouse Square with
the chandelier and streets at night. This sounded fun to me and I was in! Usually there are not photos after a
reception so this was a fairly unique request and I love doing something different.

Malka also trusted me to photograph her Orthodox Jewish wedding as she’d seen some past photos of
Orthodox Jewish weddings and really liked what I’d done. It’s really sounding like Malka is a dream client and
it’s true. 

Orthodox Jewish weddings are full of traditions that are so interesting to document. I’m really
brought back to my days as a photojournalist for the Plain Dealer telling a story with a window into something
important that many people don’t get to see.

On the wedding day I finally was able to meet Yossi, her husband to be and it’s no shock that he
was such a nice and friendly guy. The joy on his face all day, especially with Malka, was so nice to see. Such
happiness with these two!

As you’ll see some of my favorite photos of the day are the bedeken where the groom greets the
bride before the ceremony. Malka: “The veil covering ceremony is considered a very holy and joyous time, where
our dads bless us for a long good life together.”

Okay enough of my talking let’s get to the photos!

Rachel and Edina broke a plate to represent the seriousness of the commitment their children are
taking. Just like a broken relationship, a broken plate can never be completely repaired.

Yossi was brought to Malka by his father, Jonathan, and Malki’s father, Fred.

The bedeken ceremony is the veiling of the bride by her groom to be. It’s a moment where Yossi covered
 Malka’s face with the veil and symbolizes that they’re two distinct people even in marriage and he values her inner beauty.

Malka’s father Fred prayed over her before the ceremony.

Chaim sat on his grandfather David’s lap during the ceremony.

Yossi broke the glass and everyone yelled “Mazel Tov!” and the celebration began.

Malka’s nieces and friends entertained themselves before dinner.

Malka and her mother Rachel enjoyed the parachute dance.

The couple sat down to enjoy some wedding shtick from their family and friends.

After the ceremony we spent some time at Playhouse Square for some light filled backdrops.

Officiant: Rabbi Spero “felt like every rabbi in the city of Cleveland was there – seven blessing
in addition to reading the kesuba and two witnesses which were all a collection of different rabbis
that are friends of the family.” said Malka
