Amasa Stone Chapel Wedding

in Cleveland

We started with getting ready photos at Glidden House before the first look at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Then the
couple met friends at the Ballroom at Park Lane for some pre-ceremony food after they had practiced their first dance.

On the way to their Amasa Stone Chapel wedding ceremony we made some photos at Wade Lagoon. We were early
enough at Amasa that we could take some beautiful portraits. This is one of my favorite venues for a ceremony in Cleveland.

Lauren: “It was important to us that everything was within walking distance, it was our goal on the day of the wedding
to avoid getting in a vehicle if at all possible. Similarly we wanted a location that could stand alone in its beauty
and not require a bunch of decorations.”

Lauren: “We started planning the wedding years in advance, partly because I am a compulsive planner and partly because
I knew I would be planning from across an ocean. My mom was super helpful with this when we had Ohio needs. So really until
a few days before the wedding it didn’t feel real – it just felt like a bunch of emails and a website. Seeing all of our
people made it feel real.”

Lauren was overwhelmed by the way that people showed up for them: “People always say “your presence is enough”, but
honestly when I think about it, I never really expected them all to come, and they made the day so beautiful. My 90 plus year
old great aunts and uncles came. I got to dance with my grandpas, and my dad danced, something I am not sure he has done since
his own wedding. I got to actually dance with Wade.

“It was magical in a way that I can’t begin to explain. I trained in classical ballet for many years, so for me dancing
is a language and a way of expressing yourself when words aren’t enough. I will spend a lifetime remembering how surrounded I
felt on the dance floor by my friends and family. I will also never forget the moment everyone realized we were playing Mulan
and how songs like that worked exactly as I hoped they would. It was joyful, playful, and just a lot of fun.”

Wade: “I think it was crazy spending so much time planning something that truly felt like a dream even many days afterward.
I loved bringing together all the people we both love into one space. It made for one of the most special days of my life. To
me it was just as much about celebrating our family both blood and found, as it was about celebrating us. The fun we had together
and with our people will be with me for the rest of my life.

“Honestly, it left me a little bummed that we have to wait until the next big event to all get together like this again. I
am so very thankful for everyone who came and shared this wonderful day with us. Also, it may seem insignificant to most that
Lauren and I got to dance together, but what most people don’t realize is that because of the long distance and limited events
that lend themselves to dancing, this was one of the first times we truly got to dance together, making it even more special.”

It was important to us that everything was within walking distance, it was our goal on the day of the wedding to avoid getting
in a vehicle if at all possible. Similarly we wanted a location that could stand alone in its beauty and not require a bunch of
decorations.

Lauren wore her grandmother Janet’s dress: “It was my maternal grandmother’s dress which Miranda’s Vintage Bridal worked on with me
for almost three years to have it repaired and altered to fit me. She opened the shop so many times after hours or on holidays to
accommodate me coming in from Italy. She was so sweet and did an incredible job. She even helped us to arrange a fitting when my
grandma could come to see me in the dress.”

Amasa Stone Chapel history

Amasa Stone Chapel is a stunning and historic chapel located on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland,
Ohio. The chapel is well-known for its beautiful architecture, serene ambience, and rich history. It serves as a place for religious
activities, weddings, and various campus events. The chapel was constructed in memory of Amasa Stone, a prominent businessman and
philanthropist. Its elegant design and peaceful surroundings make it a popular destination for students, visitors, and anyone seeking
a tranquil place for reflection and contemplation. It seats over 500 people so there will be plenty of room if you’re doing a wedding there.

Favorite things about Amasa Stone Chapel wedding photos

I love photographing there with the stone and warm wood architectural details. The windows and arches always produced dramatic
photos. Depending on the time of year the light inside always offers surprises on a sunny day.

The massive window in the balcony is a great backdrop and the balcony also works well for a different angle looking down on the
ceremony.

If you worked at Case Western Reserve University or went to school there you’re able to utilize the venue for an
Amasa Stone Chapel wedding.

Mother Susan and sister Emiliy helped with the dress.

Wade’s parents Susanne and Richard helped him get ready.

Grandpa Verner sees Lauren in his wife Janet’s dress for the first time. She passed during the planning of the wedding.

Father David walked Lauren down the aisle.

Lauren’s parent David and Susan watch Lauren dance with her grandfather in his wife’s wedding dress.
