A Rocky River Wedding

in Cleveland

Maria and Ross have dated since their Rocky River High School days. I’ve known his family since little league when he
was the star on my son’s team. I also photographed his sister Lindsay for her senior photos. Luckily their mother Anne
recommended that Maria and her mother Anne Marie check out my photography and here we are!

Maria’s family has been so sweet and it’s been wonderful to watch their family bond. I was also thrilled to photograph
her brother’s proposal too.

Here’s some thought about the day for their Rocky River wedding. Their ceremony was at St. Christopher Parish and the
reception was at Cleveland City Hall.

Maria: “My siblings, parents, Grammy, and I wore artificial blue hydrangeas in our floral arrangements. These came from
my Papa’s wake who passed away almost seven months before the wedding after a long illness. Before his passing, I knew I
wanted some kind of blue flower incorporated into the wedding. When I learned that the hydrangeas at his wake were artificial,
I knew I wanted to have them be a part of our day. It gave us all a sense that he was there. Our florist placed a large
spray of them on the back of my bouquet, facing me – close to my heart.

“My dad helped calm me down before it was time to walk down the aisle. I was so nervous that morning. Sitting in the bus
parked outside the church, he pulled out a flask filled with Jamaican rum from my parents’ honeymoon and offered me some.
It was a lighthearted moment that I will always appreciate! Ross and I left for our own Jamaican honeymoon two days later,
coincidentally at the same resort my parents used. We made sure to buy some rum of while we were there, to save it for any
nervous brides we might have someday.”

Anne Marie: “I never knew my husband still had the rum from our honeymoon so when he brought it out during the bus ride
to the church, it made me laugh and cry at the same time.”

Maria: “St. Christopher was the obvious choice for our mass. I was baptized there by Father John, who presided that day,
and Ross had been confirmed through RCIA at the parish only a few months before. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful
mass. I may have been nervous for every moment prior, but all of it went away once it started. I think we were able to soak
in all the beautiful music and enjoyed listening to the readings we chose. Everyone whom we asked to participate in the mass
did a wonderful job.

“So much credit goes to my mom. We did not hire a wedding planner so a lot of responsibility fell to her. We worked on a
lot together, but there’s no way that day would have looked so beautiful and gone so smoothly without her touch.”

Final thoughts from mother Anne Marie: “The wedding reception was a “core” memory for me! Just an evening full of joy
and love! Truly one of the best Snow Family memories!  From Skip announcing the Bridal Party, the best man Michael lifting the
maid of honor Lauren when they were introduced, speeches by Dad, Michael and Lauren, and the DANCING….oh the dancing was
absolutely the topper on  such a memorable family occasion!!

“I think I can speak for both Skip and me when I say, we are never so happy as when we are laughing and dancing with our
kids!  We love the togetherness we feel and the joy we have when we are all together.  I think that showed that night!  And,
I’m sure the photos captured that.”

Best man Michael helped Ross with his tie as father Rob looked on.

Mother Anne Marie helped with Maria’s dress.

Anne had a moment with her new daughter-in-law during the ceremony.

Maria’s father Skip gave a toast.

Lauren and Michael also gave toasts.

Siblings Michael, Lauren, friend Carlo and Maria and Andrew dance with their cousin Dominic.
