This was my second wedding at this beautiful Cleveland wedding venue in a row!
It was a cooler spring day so the couple wanted to do everything inside which is easy to do at Tudor Arms. There’s so many great backdrops for photography and the entire wedding with the getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all so centralized at this hotel.
I asked Edgar and Anna for some thoughts on their day and they answered perfectly, so I will share them now:
What moment felt the most emotional?
Edgar: “For me, it was the vows. I was so nervous and focused on not stumbling over my words. The moment I finished, I finally let myself breathe and then Anna began her vows in Spanish. I was not prepared for that. I was trying so hard to hold it together.”
Anna: “The first moment that was emotional was walking down the aisle and seeing all of our friends and family gathered. Then, when we were saying our vows. I could see Edgar’s eyes start to water and I had to focus so I wouldn’t choke up and forget my vows!”
What surprised you most about the day?
Edgar: “Without a doubt, the Father of the Bride speech. When he pulled out the Cat in the Hat outfit, I didn’t know whether to laugh or be concerned. Honestly, I was doing both at the same time. It was completely unexpected and absolutely perfect.”
Anna: “I’d also have to say my dad’s speech. He had been hyping it up for a while, but I had no idea it would be so sentimental! I was also surprised by the Spanish translation and how it even rhymed in Spanish!”
What part of the wedding felt the most ‘you’?
Edgar: “The music. Watching both of our families on the dance floor together is an image I keep coming back to. It made everything feel complete.”
Anna: “Definitely the reception! I love a good family party and my main goal was for everyone to have a great time. It was so much fun to see all of our friends and family gather together, and to get out on the dance floor with them.”
Why did you choose Tudor Arms?
Edgar: “We had a lot of out-of-town family coming in, so our biggest priority was making the day as seamless as possible for them. Finding a venue that stunning, one that could host both the ceremony and reception, made everything so much easier. And the photos speak for themselves.”
Edgar: “We did La Víbora, a traditional Mexican wedding dance. The bride and groom stand on chairs holding a veil or their hands to form an arch, and guests form a long ‘snake’ line, dancing through the arch and around the reception hall. We did our version without the chairs to prevent either of us from falling! It’s meant to symbolize navigating the challenges of married life together and it was one of the highlights of the night.”
Anna: “Many of the men in my family changed into a traditional Filipino dress shirt, a barong, for the reception. Since Edgar was joining the family, my dad bought Edgar his first barong to wear for the occasion.”
Edgar: “We ran out of time to practice our first dance, and weren’t quite prepared for the movement restrictions caused by Anna’s wedding dress. Thankfully, we’re both pretty good dancers and whipped something together on the spot!”
