Greek Wedding Akron | Jaclyn + Dionis

Greek Wedding Akron at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church

Dionis and Jaclyn’s Greek wedding definitely qualified as a big Greek wedding.

Go big or go home. This wedding did both well. It was at the home where Jaclyn grew up and
her father still maintains. The large property was perfect for the cocktail
hour by the pool and the reception under a tent.

We’d done their engagement photos at the home in the winter so I was aware how great the
surroundings would be once we were back from the church and the Akron Art
Museum where we did portraits.

Jaclyn and her bridesmaids prepared at her childhood home while Dionis and the groomsmen
were at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Fairlawn.

Jaclyn had custom Converse made for the bridesmaids which was a great idea.

Her sisters Tonie and Pennie and mother, Demetra, helped her get her dress and jewelry
on while the bridesmaids finished getting ready.

Then a first look for her father, Nicholas, as she walked down the grand staircase
with her sister Pennie helped with her veil.

I love old cars and was pleased that Jaclyn’s father had the Ford Thunderbird from
1957 tuned up to take her to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Akron.
The car has been in the family since the 1970’s. We followed and I took photos
as Katie with Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design drove us.

After the beautiful ceremony we went to the Akron Art Museum for portraits before
heading back to the house for the cocktail hour centered around the swimming pool.

The reception was full of great details, a Greek band, and I literally loved the
glowing LOVE letters on the dance floor.

Sit back and enjoy their wedding day-one of my favorites for sure!

Nicholas loves art and sculpture and the house has lots of great works. I just had to use
one for this photo of the rings.

It seemed that everyone wanted to document Jaclyn’s entrance with her father.

The couple walks during the Triple Procession. I’ll let Jaclyn explain it:

“When we walked around circle it’s where the newly married couple process around the central
table three times, upon which are placed the Holy Gospel and the Life
Giving Cross. The first walk as husband and wife symbolizes that they
are always to process through life in worship of the Holy Trinity,
making God’s Word and the Cross the center of the home. The sponsors
of our marriage are our koumbari and Peggi and Peter held the role.”

As the couple left the church kabuki streamers were shot in the air.

Then they were off for a drive in the Thunderbird as everyone wished them well.

The Akron Art Museum offers some great backdrops for wedding portraits
and we made the most of our few minutes there before
heading to the Greek wedding reception.

I enjoy finding humorous moments during the wedding day and these ladies enjoying the
cocktail hour with the statue of David was a fun find.

Peter and his daughter Maria enjoyed the cocktail hour.

I loved the place cards and asked Jaclyn to tell me about the glass. “As much as we want to
tell you some awesome story that those glass items were volcanic rock
from the islands of Greece…..they are just clear stones bought from
Michaels to hold down the place cards” Okay then!

Mia did not want to wear her dress anymore so she ran around while her mother Pennie gave a
toast to her Aunt Jaclyn. “She refused to wear the flower crown for the
ceremony but then decided she wanted it on for the reception…but not the
dress…..ahhhh the joys of having a 22 month old in the wedding haha.”
