Conrad Botzum Farmstead Wedding

The Conrad Botzum Farmstead is located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area
and this was my first wedding there. After hearing so much about it
I’d been looking forward to finally seeing it in person.
The couple was very hands on with the details and planning and with their families
spent quite a bit of time setting everything up. Their efforts
showed and it was a great experience. The photo booth frame was
quite a hit all day as were the cornhole games.
I’ve been friends with Audrey’s father, Tony, for many years and borrowed one of
his lenses for the first photo above. In my last day as a
photojournalist for the Plain Dealer I saw him as we both
photographed the Cleveland Indians baseball game.
John Botzum and his family were originally from Germany and started the farm in
1884. Farming continues there unit the early 1970s. In
1991 the farm became part of the Cuyahoga Valley National
Recreation Area. Weddings have been held in the 1898 Bank
Barn since 2001.
Audrey spends time with her parents Tony and Maureen before they
left for the Conrad Botzum Farmstead.
The men stood in the creek after the First Look that took place at the
Everett Covered Bridge. It’s the only covered bridge
remaining in Summit County and in the 19th century it
was one of more than 2000 in Ohio.

I noticed Leonard’s jacket and Audrey’s veil and took some photos as the
sun was setting. Later I saw the moon rising in the background
and liked that even better. As a Cleveland wedding photographer
I love finding unique images from each wedding.
The couple enjoyed a Caribbean honeymoon cruise.
