Janine and Matt had lots of variety for their engagement session. We went from Severance Hall, Wade Oval and the Cleveland Museum of Art to an abandoned factory building.

I sometimes talk with others about how I feel the engagement
photos can be the true test of how a photographer sees things.
You don’t have the ceremony and reception and all the details to
fall back on. It’s you and the couple and whatever environment you
choose. What the three of you make of it tells quite a bit.
This is what I love about engagement photography.
If only every couple could have engagement photos done
by the photographers they are considering they just might be less
overwhelmed and confused and sometimes happier with their ultimate
choice. They would see there is much more to it than just pushing a button.
I love the stress and immediacy as a wedding photographer.
I feel my days as a photojournalist helped hone my eye for split second
moments, lighting and composition in all situations.
Covering big events such as the World Series when
the Cleveland Indians had that fateful night in Miami. Or many times
being with the Washington press corps covering the President of the United
States. Seeing parents say goodbye to their children on the first day
of school. Going on tour with a rock band for a week. So many
experiences over the years that set me apart from the majority
of wedding photographers documenting couples on their day.
The Cleveland Museum of Art is always a great place for photos.
The doors and pillars make an impressive facade. In the foreground is
Auguste Rodin’s “The Thinker”. It was given to the museum in 1917.
In 1970 a bomb damaged the statue. The museum’s website has lots of
interesting information about the statue as well the destruction and
conservation of it. Check it out!
Severance Hall, home to the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra
also has some amazing doors. I love the patina of the gold doors
as well as the stone in the entrance area.
After a few more photos in the Wade Park Lagoon area we
were off to the abandoned factory that’s becoming quite popular these
days. There are lots of choices there and I’m sure it can be
a visual overload of possibilities to some.
Janine and Matt will be getting married at the Great Lakes
Science Center in Cleveland and it’s going to be fun
to be with them on their wedding day!
Thank you,
