Ceremony and Reception for the Marriott Key Center wedding

Shari and Dan had a wonderful Marriott Key Center wedding.

The Marriott Key Center was wedding HQ for the day. We started there for getting ready photos, then
after portraits in Cleveland we were back for the ceremony and reception.

It was nice to see Dan’s father, John, as I worked with him at the Plain Dealer. I was a photographer
there while he was an editor.

Shari and Dan wanted to do a first look so we’d have time for portraits before the ceremony as it went
into the cocktail hour and reception with little time between for photos. Shari’s father, Steven,
led a blindfolded Dan across the street.

Then we joined the wedding party on the bus. First stop was just around the corner at Public Square. The
midges were very attracted to Shari’s dress and after we left the area several minutes were spent getting them out from her dress.

Shari: “By far the funniest moment of the entire day was trying to get all the midges out of the tulle of
my dress! I still have no idea how so many midges were able to get so far up all the layers of my skirt and
veil, but I bet we got some pretty funny pictures of the whole crew trying to get them out! Who would have
thought wearing a white dress would be like being a huge walking bug light?? Also, a huge thanks to my dresser
who somehow knew how to get smushed bug stains out of my dress before the ceremony!”

The couple wanted to get photos with one of the Cleveland signs that are so popular these days and we went
to the one in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland. After some more portraits in the area it was time to
head back for the Marriott Key Center wedding.

The room was gorgeous thanks to the transformation by Kirkbrides Wedding Planners and the Marriott Key Center.

Shari agreed: ” I can’t thank Katie and her staff enough. From the moment we hired her a year before our wedding
to the last minute of the Sunday brunch, she bent over backwards to make sure my day was perfect. Every little
detail was taken care of before I even had to ask. To anyone who thinks they don’t need a wedding planner, don’t
kid yourself and hire Kirkbrides already!

“We looked at many different locations but what sold us on the Marriott was the versatility of the room, the
convenience of the location, and how accommodating the staff was.”

During the reception there was a big surprise during the couple’s cake cutting. At least for Shari.

“I told Dan many many times before the wedding not to smash cake in my face. Of course, that’s exactly what
he does. Should I have expected anything less? Thankfully, Katie was there immediately with a napkin, and I was
having such an amazing time I didn’t even mind! I just wish he hadn’t pushed it up my nose. All I could think of
is how many people were watching me blow frosting out of my nose!”

They had one more surprise. Their honeymoon to Grenada was cancelled because of the hurricane. So they ended
up at Estes Park, Colorado at the Stanley Hotel. Some may know of the hotel from the movie “The Shining”.

Shari’s cousins, Kaylee, (junior bridesmaid) left, and Willow, (flower girl) were in the wedding too.
