Old Courthouse Cleveland Wedding | Angela + John

Old Courthouse Cleveland

Angela and John’s Old Courthouse Cleveland wedding was filled with lots of great touches.

Please enjoy, Scott Shaw Photo | Cleveland Wedding Photographer

We started at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown which is the perfect location with the Old Courthouse across the street and the
Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist just down the street.

After the ceremony we were on foot to visit some Cleveland locations that are important to the couple. Starting with the
Cleveland Public Library, we then went to E. 4th Street and Progressive Field before heading back to the Old Courthouse.
They had a dog walker bring their dog Callie to all of the locations for photos too!

Angela has been a downtown Cleveland resident for 12 years and John for five years. They told me they love living in the
beautiful downtown. The walkability to their favorite sports stadiums, the Rock Hall and Heinen’s beautiful grocery store.
They met many lifelong friends living downtown and have many fond memories.

They knew if they were going to get married in Cleveland they wanted their out-of-town friends and family to experience
their beloved neighborhood. They have been members of St. John’s Cathedral parish for as long as they’ve lived downtown.
They also wanted aesthetically beautiful venues as they both love art and photography. This is how they picked the cathedral
and the Old Courthouse.

Angela is a lifelong diehard sports fan and John became a diehard baseball fan in his early twenties after attending his
first Indians game in Cleveland and adopting the team despite still living in Cincinnati. He also traveled to many Indians
games with his dad Jack. John is a loyal Cincinnati Bengals fan.  Angela was raised a devout Green Bay Packers fan and has many
fond childhood memories watching Milwaukee Brewers baseball games with her grandpa Pagano.

Prior to her spinal cord injury, her favorite sport to play was softball. When she moved to Cleveland in 2011 many Cavaliers
and Indians – now Guardians – players lived in her building. She decided the neighborly thing to do was adopt these two
Cleveland teams! When they started dating John was presented with the jersey of Packers great Ray Nitzsche and traveled to
both Lambeau Field and several Packer away games with Angela and her family. He has now been known to say he’s a Packers fan
by marriage. Angela owns stock in the Packers and is considered an NFL owner!

Being the diehard sports fan she is, Angela’s first question for John was what was an Indians fan doing In Covington, KY.
Baseball was one of the first things they connected on. They became Guardians season ticket holders in 2019, have traveled to
many road games, and celebrated many special occasions with the Guardians. Angela and John decided that their wedding theme
would be baseball. This was incorporated into the save-the-dates, invitations, wedding signs, grand entrance introductions and
decorations.

While the wedding theme was baseball, Angela was determined to work some of the Green Bay Packers Lambeau Field magic
into the day. She proposed that when the wedding guests wanted her and John to kiss they should do the Lambeau Leap. The
Lambeau Leap is the Green Bay Packers touchdown celebration. When the player crosses the goal line for a touchdown he runs
and leaps into the stands to the music of Todd Rundgren’s “Bang on the Drum All Day”.

At first this suggestion was met with laughter and skepticism; however John learned long ago that when Angela has her
heart set on something they have to figure out how to make it happen. John and her sisters created the bleachers, crowd
backdrop, and touchdown celebration signs. They also made it the first accessible Lambeau Leap to include wheelchair users.
Little did they know this would be the hit of the wedding reception! Before they knew it there was a line including Browns,
Patriots and even Bears fans ready to do their first Lambeau Leap.  Angela had never celebrated so many Packer touchdowns!

The library was purposely picked for photos. Angela is a lifelong avid reader and has made many good friends talking
about books. It was only fitting to take pictures at the Cleveland Public Library. They also wanted to incorporate the
art exhibit there given how much they love art.

Alyssa did Angela’s hair while Hailey did Jessica’s.

Angela: “John is an incredibly talented artist. He created the hangers for the dresses for all the ladies!”

Greg helped John with his suit.

Becca put Angel’s veil on before the ceremony.

Mother Mary and Ted spent time with Angela before the ceremony.

Finn, Grace, Lily and Kelly announced the bride’s entrance.
