Sarah and John had such a great SmARTspace 78th Street Studios wedding.
Please enjoy, Scott Shaw Photo | Cleveland Wedding Photographer
Sarah finished getting ready in the studio of Susie Frasier. Her parents, Dennis and Eileen were there
along with her bridesmaids.
I chose the staircase for the first look. There are so many great options for photos at a SmARTspace 78th
Street Studios wedding.
Sarah: “We chose W. 78th street because we could be as creative as we wanted to. I’m an artist and art
therapist, plus John and I love going to art museums together. Also, we’ve been to weddings there
before and have absolutely loved them.”
After this we only had a short amount of time before the ceremony. We chose Lakewood Park for the view of
the Cleveland skyline and I wanted to photograph the fairly new Solstice Steps.
When we were walking in the park a little boy turned to his mom and said “Look Mom, there’s a princess!”
Of course Sarah loved that!
Another interesting thing happened at the park when a woman stopped Sarah and John and asked to say a prayer
for them. They were a bit surprised.
Sarah’s father had just had eye surgery and he couldn’t see much out of his one eye, so “I joked with him
that I was leading him down the aisle.
“There was a snafu with the rings. John’s ring almost didn’t come in time and it arrived the day of our wedding.
Then during the ceremony when John’s brother/best man went to reach into his pocket he made a weird
face. I thought he was just joking around about John’s ring almost not being there in time. After the
fact, I found out that the rings had fallen into a hole in his pocket and almost got stuck in the lining.
Then when he pulled them out into his hand my ring was stuck perfectly inside of John’s ring. A perfect fit.
He somehow got them unstuck, and neither of us knew until we got home from our honeymoon.”
The space was gorgeous with so many wonderful details.
“Hilary Gent and her team are absolutely amazing. She was our wedding coordinator, florist, and another part of
the reason we chose W. 78th. My mom and I gave her all the pieces we collected and made for the wedding
decor. The books, birds, lanterns, ladders, the lace garland backdrop my mom, sister, and I made… and so
many more items. She brought my vision to life.”
Brittany and Danielle helped Sarah tie her shoes.
Prayer time with a woman that does not know the couple.
