Sarah and David had a unique Squire’s Castle wedding.

It was so nice to be there for Sarah and David’s wedding. After their ceremony and portraits we ended up talking for awhile
until they needed to get to their small dinner reception.
Their original plans changed due to Covid-19.
Sarah: “Our original wedding was to be August 8, 2020 at Threave Garden & Estate outside the town of Castle Douglas. However,
within a few more months it was clear the pandemic had other plans. The next idea we had was to bring our Scottish wedding to Ohio and
renew our vows in Scotland once it is safe to travel again. My love of the country and our shared Scottish ancestry made Scotland the
obvious choice.
“The Scottish elements: The venue – Squires Castle is about as close to the real thing as we could hope for here in Ohio. The
piper – no Scottish event is complete without one. The Handfasting – an ancient Celtic ritual. The tartan – my shawl (and my dog Brodie’s
scarf) were made from fabric bought on my first trip to Scotland in 2002. It is the Clan Douglas tartan. The pin I wore on my shawl is a
family heirloom, passed down through many generations, that came from Scotland as well. And let’s be honest, that was pretty Scottish weather.
My brother Doug stood in for our late father, Don.”
Sarah was worried about finding an officiant: “While David does not follow any one spiritual path, I identify as a Celtic Pagan.
From the first time we talked to Persephone, we knew she was perfect for us. She wrote the Elemental Handfasting ritual herself and helped
us create the most beautiful and unique ceremony. It was a perfect reflection of our love and relationship and the ceremony was my favorite
part of the day.”
