Becky and Marcus were super fun and I now love a Stillwater Place wedding!
Please enjoy, Scott Shaw Photo | Cleveland Wedding Photographer
I had never photographed a Stillwater Place wedding before. I’ve done other weddings at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
but at that reception venue so I was excited to see it. Just as I’d heard it’s very nice. Everyone loved the
outdoor space as the night went on and the inside was also beautiful. The Cleveland Metropark Zoo has done
a wonderful job with this space and the carousel next door is an added bonus!
Becky said of their reception choice: “We wanted to showcase part of Cleveland, since all of Marcus’s family would
be traveling from Green Bay, WI, and many of them had never been to Cleveland before. However, we also wanted
something that fit our personalities and lifestyle. We loved the rustic feeling of Stillwater Place and the
outdoor patio was a huge bonus!”
We started in Avon Lake with Marcus and the guys. From there I went to the ladies just down the road where I saw
Becky’s cute little nieces in their white dresses. As you’ll see in this blog post they could not stop
being photogenic.
The ceremony was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake and Becky has a funny story about that: “I put the
ring on Marcus’s right hand instead of his left. After I said all of my lines and had the ring on his
finger, the priest whispered to me “Is that the correct hand?” I quickly switched it to his left hand,
and only a few people noticed. I think.”
The first stop for photos was Cleveland State University. The couple met there in physical therapy classes and spent
the first three years of their relationship in classes together.
Then we stopped at the Cleveland sign in Tremont which was a must have request from the couple. After that we found
some less glamorous spots in the Flats for portraits of everyone.
Next we, well I’ll let Marcus tell the story: “The bridal party limo stopped at my friend’s apartment in the Flats
for a quick bathroom break and photo op. While we were there, someone knocked on the door and it
turned out to be a girl who was renting my friend’s extra room through Airbnb. She looked like a deer
in the headlights when she saw an entire wedding party, and she immediately thought she was in the wrong place.”
There wasn’t much time to take photos at the zoo so it was pretty much arrive in time for the Stillwater Place
wedding reception.
Becky: “A lot of the decor at the reception was homemade. The wood that was used for the centerpiece slabs and
cake stand was taken from my family’s cabin in southern Ohio as well as Marcus’s family’s cabin in
the upper peninsula of Michigan. The black walnut is from the Lightfoot Cabin and the white birch on
the cake stand is from the Blohm cabin. Also, the steel “B” on the mantle was laser cut at my Dad’s work.”
After getting his tie perfect Marcus noticed it had a few wrinkles.
Nieces Harlie, Lauren, Hannah were mesmerized by Becky’s beauty in her wedding dress.
Becky got kisses and hugs from her mother, Michelle, above as well as Liz, the mother of Marcus.
Lauren helped her sister Claire walk down the aisle as she lost a shoe.
Becky’s father, Dennis, walked Becky down the aisle.
