The Elliot wedding venue

I started at Katie’s and Ben’s super cute apartment in Tremont while my assistant Julia photographed the guys getting ready at a place in Gordon Square before we all met at the Elliot wedding venue for a first look.

Katie: “We kept our wedding weekend activities entirely in Tremont, where we live. We live by Lincoln Park, our welcome dinner was at Southside, and the venue was at the Elliot – all within two blocks! Many of our guests stayed in Airbnbs in Tremont as well.

“I planned the wedding and Ben planned the honeymoon – the perfect division of labor for us. I did forget a couple tiny details but mostly I think I did pretty good! My day of coordinator, Day of by Alli, was extremely helpful though and I was very glad to have a pro double checking things.”

The most emotional moments for Katie: “having my mom and sister get ready with me. Being up at the altar with Ben in front of everyone, having all my favorite people in a cozy space mingling at cocktail hour and seeing all my favorite girls were there for me when we took pictures in the afternoon. When Ben would come find me on the dance floor to give me a kiss

Ben said his were the first look and the speech of Katie’s dad Richard.

Katie said she was surprised her dad would give such a great wedding speech and Ben was surprised how smooth everything went all day and credits Katie for that.

“My dress was exactly what I wanted.”

I have photographed other events at the Elliot before but this was my first time for the Elliot wedding venue ceremony and reception and I’m looking forward to another in 2027.

It was the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church and opened in 1910 serving immigrants from the Carpathian Mountains. It closed in 2009 and eventually became the Elliot wedding venue in the summer of 2022 after an extensive renovation.
With the Rosehip Room in the lower level it’s perfect for the cocktail hour. They also host parties, corporate gatherings and other events. As you can see in my photos the stained glass behind the bar is a gorgeously lit piece of art.

Kyle helped Ben get ready.

Katie’s mother Anne helped Katie with her dress.

I love it when my couples are up for anything during the portrait session. I scouted some locations just before I started that morning and found some unique locations.

Alyson and Ben made sure Katie was safe getting off the ladder.

Ally and Alex were the couple’s dual officiants.

Whenever the Cleveland Keys are playing it’s a fun dance floor!
