Hyatt Arcade Cleveland Wedding | Morgan + Kevin

Hyatt Arcade Cleveland Wedding

Morgan and Kevin’s Hyatt Arcade Cleveland wedding was nonstop fun!

I wasn’t able to meet the couple until the wedding day as they live in Texas. Everyone was so
friendly it felt like we all had met before. The Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade is such a wonderful
place for a wedding. We never left the building the entire day except for just a few photos right outside
the entrance.

Morgan: “We originally wanted to do a beach wedding, but we quickly realized that is hard to
achieve in Ohio. We had seen the Arcade pop up several times but we weren’t sure we wanted a typical indoor
wedding. We wanted something that people would remember. Kevin is the last member of his friend group to
get married, so we wanted to go out with a bang. We saw the pictures of the Hyatt and thought it was stunning.
As soon as we walked into the hotel and saw how elegant and detailed the architecture was that was it. We fell
in love instantly. Ann made our choice even easier who was always so excellent and so informative. We had gotten
to know her pretty well over the three years of this process as the wedding got postponed by an entire year due
to Covid.”

Morgan and Kevin did some photos in traditional Korean wedding outfits. Kevin: “As westernization
took over around the world, so did Korean wedding ceremonies. So it naturally became a trend to wear traditional
outfits (Han-bok) during the wedding ceremony because of how rare it has become to wear traditional outfits. In
addition, closer to our wedding, it became evident that most of my family members from Korea were not likely to
attend due to the lack of vaccine availability and the 14 days quarantine protocol in both countries. My mother
had previously bought a traditional Korean outfit when she visited South Korea years prior so I knew this was
something that she wanted to do. I think it was a great homage to those who could not attend from overseas.

“Outfits that we wore were those worn by royalty in ancient Korea. I always loved historical
period(costume) drama as a kid. I recall telling my mother how I wanted to become a benevolent king one day,
as portrayed on TV or in film. Before she got too busy with work and immigration preparation, she and I often
visited ancient royal palaces to spend time together. It was ironic that my mother dressed Morgan and me up in
queen and king outfits; she strived hard in a foreign country to allow me to pursue a career of my choosing.”

The couple made their centerpieces. Morgan said her mother Heide, sister Ashtyn and Kevin helped
her put them together when they arrived from Texas. There were many options and attempts to get things just
right with an assist from maid of honor Katherine the last few days.

Morgan: “In retrospect, it was a great team-building exercise that we had needed as a newlywed
couple: collaboration and love in a high-stress situation.”

Kevin also wanted something unique, memorable and practical for the groomsmen gifts and decided
on hats after recalling how the majority of them all wore them quite a bit in college. “I can’t speak for the
others, but I mainly wore hats to avoid spending time doing my hair or hide my crazy hair from the night before.

“I customized them with our names initials, location, and dates as the logo. I have no background
in design, so I took the liberty of choosing the popular logo with our initials. They all loved it, including my
father-in-law and others with sharp brand awareness. However, a few lost theirs the night of the wedding from
excessive partying just like the old days at Baylor.”

Morgan’s grandmother Katherine was rushed to the hospital two days before the wedding. She has been
battling congestive heart failure and needed heart valve surgery. “My Aunt Dawn was so wonderful to video call
my grandmother so she would not miss a second. She stayed on a video call through almost the entire wedding.
I am so grateful my aunt was able to do that because initially my grandmother was very sad she would not make it
to the wedding.” I’m happy to report she’s back home and doing much better. You’ll see a few photos of her on the phone.

Another person you’ll see several times is Morgan’s brother, Jesse.  “My brother is amazing. He has
Autism and is nonverbal. We call Jesse the gentle giant. He is my little/big brother – little by age, big by
height. We were inseparable growing up and were honestly mistaken as twins until he started to grow and grow and
grow! His favorite movie of all time is the original Lion King. That is why I chose a song from that movie to
dance to with him. Even though we couldn’t communicate through words, we could share such unforgettable memories
and keep an awesome relationship through that movie.

“He has always been loved by everyone who has crossed paths with him. He was so famous when we were
in high school. Sometimes they would refer to me as “Oh my god, you’re Jesse’s sister” and not even know my name.
I was completely okay with it knowing that he was loved and protected by the school and community was amazing.”

Morgan and Kevin provided me with so much fun information and now let’s view some of my favorite
images of their day!

The two got a bit teary eyed at this point: “My mother bought the handkerchief at an old antique
store in Norwalk when I was about 4 years old. There were 4 different ones and the one she chose had an F
on it and she bought it and held onto it until I got married. She pulled me aside right before the ceremony
to make sure I had my something old. With it having an F on it I will forever remember that I was a
Fields – a small hometown girl from Norwalk, Ohio.”

Morgan held hands with her sister Ashtyn while Courtney styled her hair.

Grandmother Ellen watched Kevin put on his traditional Korean wedding outfit and Victor helped him with it.

Mother Jennifer and Ellen and Victor watched the couple
present themselves in the traditional outfits.

Morgan’s mother Heide and sister Ashtyn helped her with her dress.

The first look!

The sisters talked to grandmother Katherine who was in the hospital.

Father Jason talked to Morgan before they walked down the aisle.

The wedding was a very popular visual event!

Everyone wanted to get a photo of the couple on the gorgeous steps at the Arcade.

The father/daughter dance is always special.

Morgan’s brother Jesse danced with everyone and then had a special Lion King dance with his mother and sisters.

Garrett and Maleesa enjoyed the photobooth!

Mother of the bride used her dress to create some privacy during the garter retrieval.
