Jenilee and Justin’s wedding at Gervasi Vineyard was fall perfection!
Please enjoy, Scott Shaw Photo | Cleveland Wedding Photographer
Although it was a bit cold on their day everyone stayed warm inside the Pavilion for the ceremony and reception.
We had so much fun at their engagement session so I knew the wedding day would be even better. The couple values photography
and was up for anything.
We started with getting ready photos in their Villas and then their first look just outside of them and finally some
portraits before the ceremony.
I’m so glad Justin found Gervasi Vineyard for their wedding. They only recently moved to the area for his job. I’ll let
him tell the story:
“We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2020 so we spent nearly a year and a half trying to find the right venue. This was difficult
because her family is largely from the west coast and mine is east coast. Jen also was really into the idea of having the
wedding at a vineyard so we spent a lot of time initially looking at locations in California, all of which were way too expensive.
“We then looked at vineyard locations in upstate New York, which were beautiful, but extremely hard for large groups to get
to. Many venues were also booked from all the Covid weddings that had been postponed and were now finally happening. It got to
the point where I was just looking for venues in dramatic locations like Colorado, Arizona, etc even though we had no connection to them.
“When I accepted a job offer in Ohio, I figured I might as well check out the wedding venue options in the area. When we
found Gervasi – I couldn’t believe it. It was literally everything we were looking for. We never would have expected to find
the perfect venue half an hour from my new job in Ohio. But it worked out great, and seemed like a fair halfway meeting point
for both our families.
“It was unfortunately a bit colder on the actual wedding day than her family from California would’ve liked though. But
aside from that, it was everything we hoped for and more.”
Jenilee: “I was nervous and cold. Walking down the aisle, I just focused on walking straight, not falling, and walking
towards Justin. Everything was better once I got to the altar.
“Our good friend Jennifer was officiant. She has known Justin since grade school and we became good friends a few years ago.
“Lorna Garces is my close cousin. I grew up in Los Angeles and she and her siblings grew up in Seattle but she was able
to reunite our families together. We became close as adults after college creating new traditions traveling with each other and
our other cousins almost every year now. With our big family tree on our grandfather’s side we always try to draw up the entire
family tree while we find or get to know new relatives. So, while she’s zipping up my dress, we’ve always worked together to tie
together stories through our family tree, which started when she reached out to meet us when she lived in California for the first time.”
Justin planned quite a bit more of the wedding than the typical groom I’ve encountered:
“I designed all the floral arrangements, centerpieces and the three-tiered cake design myself with Jen’s final approval
of course. We did choose the two separate cake flavors together and made an entire trip from Rochester to Cleveland just to
try the cake. We are both music lovers and spent about a year compiling songs we thought we might want played at various points
in the wedding. The song that our parents and I walked down the aisle to was from the soundtrack of Rick and Morty which is an
animated TV show. Jen spent about an hour on the phone with the DJ a couple days before the wedding and they bonded over similar
music tastes – the DJ absolutely crushed it. I don’t think a single song was played that I wasn’t totally happy to hear.”
One last note about the cake cutting from Jenilee:
“I thought it was funny that with all the years of surgical training Justin has had and the fact that he’s now working
as a trauma surgeon that he had a hard time cutting the cake.”
Lorna helped with the dress.
Mariah received an assist from Jenilee.
Justin’s brother Stefan on cuff detail.
The first look!
Her Manolo Blahniks got a bit muddy.
