Cleveland Yachting Club Wedding

Cleveland Yachting Club Wedding

Kathleen and Pat’s Cleveland Yachting Club wedding sailed along so well. The location on the Rocky River by Lake Erie was a gorgeous backdrop for their reception.

All these years of photographing weddings and I’d never been to a Cleveland Yachting Club wedding. It’s located less than a mile from my house and I was excited to be there!

We started at the bride’s parents home in Westlake before heading to Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. This is one of the most photographed churches in the Cleveland area and I’m always glad when my couples choose it for their ceremony.

After that we went straight to the Cleveland Yachting Club for portraits before the cocktail hour started.

We made portraits around the docks and boats as the guests started to arrive.

Kathleen: “We picked our venue because we loved being right on the water with all the boats surrounding the clubhouse. We had a lot of friends traveling to Cleveland for the first time so we wanted to pick a spot that was on the lake because that’s the best part of Cleveland in the summer. I grew up sailing with my family, so being at a sailing club felt special to remember all those great memories. The sailboat we had out on the lawn was the boat that we grew up sailing at our family’s cottage. We had nautical flags on the sailboat spelling out “Mulach”.

“We decided to do table names instead of numbers because we’ve been together since the sophomore year of high school and we’ve traveled a lot together and have a lot of really incredible communities and memories from all our different stages of life that we wanted to celebrate. It was also fun putting the tables together and trying to put people at a table that would have meaning or memory for them as well.”

After the couple and parent dances everyone rushed out onto the deck to observe the sunset over Lake Erie. After this the dance floor was packed all night and started off with “Come On Eileen” in honor of the bride’s mother named, you guessed it, Eileen.

Can’t wait to get back to the Cleveland Yachting Club!

Kathleen and her sister Maureen.

Eileen and her daughter were so happy.

A first look with dad Eric.

Pat and his friends from Boston College did a photo at sunset.

Pat and his mother Mary danced together.
