Ryka and Anthony’s Greystone Hall travel themed wedding was a relaxed affair!
Please enjoy, Scott Shaw Photo | Cleveland Wedding Photographer
We had plenty of time for photos between the ceremony and reception which was a nice change of pace.
There was even enough time for their dog Baxter to make an appearance midway through.
Anthony: “Travel is a big part of our lives. We met while both working for the same airline in Columbus,
Ohio. Our idea of a weekend getaway was a trip halfway across the world with passports in hand, sometimes not
even sure where we’d end up just the day before. Between the two of us, we have filled up multiple passports
and continue to travel as there will always be new places to explore, even for a weekend. We felt it only natural
to share our joy of travel with our wedding guests by adding little touches of detail throughout the wedding.
“Anyone who knows us knows Baxter. He comes with us nearly everywhere and probably has taken more flights
than most people. He’s such an important part of our lives there was no way we were not going to have him be part
of our special day in some way. He’s a good boy but he’s not always the most well behaved so while we couldn’t count
on him to be a ringbearer (although in hindsight he might not have done so bad in comparison.. just kidding, Chris)
we could count on him to show up looking dapper and to steal the spotlight.”
About brother Chris and the rings: “Getting married is one of those days you remember for the rest of your
life and the missing rings incident just made it that much more memorable. While it was not staged, contrary to what
some believe, Ryka and I let it roll off our shoulders and laughed about it in the moment thinking that’s just the kind
of thing that happens to us. Besides, Chris was giving himself enough grief, we didn’t need to add to it. Once the rings
were found after the ceremony Father Burba was kind enough to bless the real rings for us privately in the back of the church.”
Anthony gave me such great information I just have to share some more: “We have an appreciation for classic
style and places with a story. We chose St. Anthony’s because of the church’s classic beauty and the history, being
built by Italian immigrants to be the center of their community. That spoke to us as being a special place and a special
place for us to have our wedding. The classic and elegant style of the Greystone Hall building both inside and out, ornate
but not over the top, really fit with the style we had in mind for our wedding. The fact that the building had its own story
as well, a former Masonic Lodge since abandoned and then reclaimed and revitalized by the City of Akron, added to the allure
of the venue.”
Alie and Emily hung out while Ryka’s hair was done by Jen.
Darita snaps a photo of everyone.
Lucksmi helped with Ryka’s lipstick.
Ryka’s mother Ary helped with the dress.
Brother Karisma walked Ryka down the aisle.
Anthony’s second cousins wore matching dresses.
This was such a gorgeous church for a wedding!
A blessing of the rings after the ceremony with Father Ed Burba and Deacon Jerry.
Baxter made a visit!
Love this photo my assistant Amy took as they watched everyone do their reception entrances.
Anthony danced with his mother Lori.
