Shelby and Jack did a small Mayfield Sand Ridge Club wedding ceremony on the golf course.

This will be a two part blog. The first week is the small family ceremony and the second week is the reception party.
When Shelby came over for the consult, she was only booking for the reception part and didn’t think she needed the ceremony captured. A few days later when she booked me she asked if I could be there for the ceremony too. I love smaller ceremonies and was thrilled!
We started with getting ready photos at the groom’s parents house in Chagrin Falls. It’s a large 19th century Queen Anne Italianate home with so many great details and a large property for portraits.
Then we were off for the ceremony on the golf course at their Mayfield Sand Ridge wedding. Everyone enjoyed some appetizers before our golf cart parade to a teeing area overlooking the course.
Some of the family spoke about the couple and then the groom’s father, John, officiated the ceremony. These moments were filled with a mix of laughter and tears.
Shelby: “Sand Ridge’s natural landscape is picturesque, and the club is classically styled and cozy. It made for a great place to enjoy our intimate family ceremony without being watched by passersby.
“We also spotted a deer during the ceremony and we both agreed it was his deceased grandma Jean watching.”
After dinner under the full moon everyone gathered around a fire for a special ceremony and Shelby shared: “It’s derived from a pagan moon ceremony ritual. Especially on full moons, pagans will write things they’d like to let go of and toss them in the fire as a prayer to the gods, bringing earth to ether. We asked our guests to write prayers and wishes for our marriage in the fire pits so we could collect the ashes in an urn that’s now sitting on our mantle. We specifically told our guests not to share the notes with us. It’s between them and the universe.”
John, the father of the groom, shaved as Shelby’s hair was finished by Gigi.
Jack showed his ring to grandparents Carol and Carl.
Shelby had fun with her mother Randi and grandmother Becky.
The first look was witnessed by Randi, Becky and Jack’s brother Charlie and his girlfriend Devon.
Jack’s grandfather Steve started the ceremony with thoughts about the couple.
